Social Economy Belfast (SEB) aims to encourage community and voluntary groups to become sustainable through the development of social enterprises. Work West are the delivery agents for North and West Belfast

SEB offers groups and individuals in Belfast free access to a wide-ranging and flexible training and mentoring programme to help develop new skills and build on existing ones. Support is available in a variety of areas vital for the success of social businesses, including;

  • Training in assertiveness, leadership skills and financial management
  • Mentoring tailored to the needs of your business in areas such as creating a business plan, raising finance and marketing
  • Best practice visits throughout Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK
  • Networking events providing opportunities to meet with similar groups and organisations

Lisburn Partnership Social Economy Programme
The initiative with Lisburn Enterprise Organisation and Initiative Economic Development to promote social enterprise and assist Lisburn based groups to develop new social enterprises is delivered in association with the Lisburn Local Strategy Partnership with support from the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation.

The Lisburn Social Enterprise Programme has been developed to maximise the potential of Lisburn based community groups in the Social Economy through the provision of:

  • Network formation and events
  • Lisburn Social Enterprise Communication plan
  • Best practice research visits
  • Development of new social enterprises with 4 groups
  • Assisting 14 groups in fund raising and developing sustainability

 

Community Business StartUp Programme
The Community Business Start up Programme provides a comprehensive support package of training, advice and funding to community groups who have decided to start a business.

Throughout the Greater Belfast area (Belfast, Lisburn, Newtownabbey, Castlereagh, North Down and Ards) Work West Community Business Adviser will support your group from the initial concept of the idea through the set up period of the business, to the first two years of trading.

There are many successful examples of Community Businesses throughout Belfast and Northern Ireland which can be reviewed at the Invest NI website.

The Community Business Start up Programme is an Invest NI initiative funded by the Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation.
